High Arch & Flatfoot Correction

Knowing What You've Got

Flatfoot (fallen arches) and high arches (cavus foot) may change the way your foot operates and cause discomfort, instability, trouble walking, repeated ankle sprains and progressive deformity. I generally only suggest surgery if problems continue after adequate non-surgical treatment, including orthotics, physiotherapy and supportive footwear.

What does the operation involve?

Your operation is customized for your specific foot and may include: • Osteotomy (bone realignment)

The purpose is to correct foot alignment, alleviate discomfort and restore stability.

Weeks 0-2

Elevation, wound care and pain control.

Week 2-6

Wound evaluation, Gradual mobilization and physiotherapy if needed.

Weeks 6-12

Progressive weight bearing, strengthening and balancing exercises

3-6 Months

●      Gradual return to regular activities and low impact exercise.
●      Recovery varies depending on the difficulty of the surgery.
